(a) whether the Government has any plan to open new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs)
during the 2020-21 academic session in various parts of the country and if so, the
details thereof, State-wise;
(b) whether the State Governments have sent proposals for opening of new KVs
including West Bengal, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh and if so, the details thereof
and current status thereof;
(c) whether the Government has received any request from public representatives
like MPs for opening of KVs and if so, the details thereof and action taken
thereon; and
(d) whether the Government has any plan to open new KVs in aspirational districts and
if so, the steps taken/ being taken by the Government in this regard?
KVs are issued. The State/UT-wise details
are annexed.
(b) KVS has informed that 104 proposals have been received from various state
governments in the prescribed proformafor opening of new KVs. Out of these, only 16
proposals have been found to be fulfilling the necessary pre-requisites as per norms of
KVS. The remaining proposals have been referred back to the concerned sponsoring
authorities for removal of discrepancies.
(c) KVS has further informed that a few references have also been received from
public representatives including Hon’ble Members of Parliament for opening new KVs.
However, proposals for opening of new KVs are considered only when received in the
prescribed proforma from the District Administration through the State Government
concerned.The proposals received from various sponsoring authorities for opening of
new KVs also have to compete among other proposals under the “Challenge Method”.
(d) No such proposal is under consideration at present. However, 167 KVs are
already functioning in 117 Aspirational Districts.
