(a) whether there is any proposal to establish a US Foreign Commercial Service Office at Hyderabad;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the present status thereof;
(c) the number of such proposals already cleared;
(d) the locations thereof; and
(e) the number of such proposals pending at present?

(a) There was a proposal to open a United States Foreign Commercial Service office in
Hyderabad in 1996.
(b) After obtaining the concurrence of concerned departments, Government of India cleared
the proposal in March 2000.
(c) Three such proposals were cleared earlier.
(d) These were located in Bangalore (January `93), Ahmedabad (April `97) and Pune (Augt`97).
(e) There is no such proposal pending at present.
