Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF TEXTILES (SHRI SANTOSH KUMAR GANGWAR)

(a) & (b): Yes. The details of power cut (%) and labour shortage (%) during last 3 years i.e. 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 affecting production and profit is given in Annexure-I.

(c): In 2011-12, National Textile Corporation has installed 8 Diesel Generator sets in 8 of its mills situated in Tamil Nadu and Kerala State and purchased some power from private parties to offset some of its requirement but high generation cost through DG sets and outside purchase affected its profit margins. From June 2014, Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board has lifted power restrictions and it is expected that this will improve NTCs productivity for the remaining part of current financial year.
