Question : NATIONAL FOOD TECHNOLOGY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE .



(a) whether the Government proposes to establish the National Food Technology and Entrepreneurship Management Institute (NIFTEM) in the country;

(b) if so, the details of the said institute likely to be set up in the country during the 12th Five Year Plan, location and State-wise;

(c) the criteria laid down for setting up such institute; and

(d) the details of funds earmarked for the purpose during the above period, State- wise including Gujarat and Jharkhand?

(a) to (d):Government has set up the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) at Kundli, District Sonepat, Haryana at an estimated cost of Rs. 479.94 crore. The institute was declared to be a Deemed to be University under De Novo category on 8.05.2012. NIFTEM Deemed University commenced its academic programmes on 16.08.2012. The Ministry at present does not have any other proposal to set up such an institute in the country during the 12th Plan period.
