Question : Health Insurance

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is preparing a new Health Insurance Scheme for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the manner and time by which the above scheme will be functional for the benefit of BPL families;

(c) whether the poor persons are likely to get the facility of free treatment in private hospitals under the said scheme on the lines of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) and if so, the details of the said scheme;

(d) whether free treatment is likely to be provided upto a certain limit under the said scheme and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether the beneficiaries of the said schemes need not to pay any charges or premium, if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) Government proposes to launch a new health protection scheme in place of RSBY which will provide health cover up to Rs. One lakh per family belonging to poor, deprived rural families and identified occupational category of urban workers’ families as per the latest Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) data, both rural and urban. The contours of the scheme are being finalized.
