Question : LINGUISTIC MINORITIES EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS



(a) whether the Right to Education is also applicable for the minority institutions and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether linguistic minorities are also included in the minority institutions and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the number of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) children admitted in the minority and linguistic minorities educational institutions during the session 2013-14 and 2014-15?

(a) & (b): The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 was amended in 2012 to clearly state that the provisions of the said Act shall apply to conferment of rights on children to free and compulsory education subject to the provisions of Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution of India. The Act would not apply to Madrasas, Vedic Pathsalas and educational institutions primarily imparting religious instructions.

(c) : No data base in maintained on admission of EWS children in Minority Educational Institutions.
