Question : Toll Tax Collection

(a) whether the Government is considering to tackle the problem of long queues of vehicles at toll tax collection booths;

(b) if so, whether to offer non-stop movement and convenience on toll plazas, the NHAI had rolled out the cashless payment mechanism/online payment on toll plazas on National Highways;

(c) whether the Government has made any assessment of this scheme as well as the condition of highways before collecting the tolls therefrom; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the total collection therefrom during the last three months along with implementation of this scheme on all the toll plazas on National Highways in the country?

(a) to(d) For seamless movement at Fee Plazas, a cashless payment mechanism (FASTag) has been rolled out. Electronic Fee Collection (EFC) System is operational on over 340 Fee plazas on National Highways across the country. The scheme has been rolled out w.e.f. 18.04.2016, it is still in initial stage and it would be premature to make any assessment. The total fee collection during the last three months is Rs. 2,24,06,630.
