Question : Group Accident Insurance for Active Fishermen Scheme

Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING ??????????, ??????? ?? ????? ?????? be pleased to state:
(a) the data of the total funds released as premium for fisherman under the Group Accident Insurance for Active Fishermen scheme during the last three years and the current year, State-wise; and
(b) the number of fishermen who received the premium due to death or permanent total disability and partial disablement during the said period, State-wise including Andhra Pradesh?

(a) and (b): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying had implemented a Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries’ for a period of 5 years from 2015-16 to 2019-20 and “Group Accident Insurance for Active Fishermen” was one of the sub-components of the component on National Scheme for Welfare of Fishermen under the aforesaid CSS.
The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is now implementing a flagship scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with a highest ever investment of Rs. 20,050 crore for a period of 5 years with effect from 2020-21 to 2024-25 in all the States/Union Territories. PMMSY inter-alia supports for Insurance coverage for fishers which includes (i) Rs.5,00,000/- against accidental death or permanent total disability, (ii) Rs.2,50,000/- for permanent partial disability and (iii) insurance coverage for hospitalization expenses in the event of accident for a sum of Rs. 25,000/-. The State-wise details of premium amount released for providing insurance coverage to fishers during the last three years and current year under the above said two schemes are furnished at Annexure-I & II.
