Question : INDO- UNDP PROGRAMME FOR FOOD SECURITY



(a) whether the Government and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed any agreement regarding funding of programmes of food security;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of assistance so far provided by UNDP and developmental programmes undertaken therefrom, State-wise; and

(d) the number of persons benefited by each of such programmes in various States?

(a)&(b): UNDP-GOI Food Security Programme was signed on 13th February, 1998 with the objective of intensification of agriculture, diversification of farming system, transfer of technology with a focus on rainfed and marginal land, undertaking innovative community initiatives and mainstreaming gender concerns in agriculture. The Umbrella Programme has been successfully concluded on 31.12.2005. An expenditure of Rs.46.45 crores has been incurred on the programme which was funded by UNDP.

(c)&(d): The details regarding assistance provided by UNDP and activities undertaken and persons benefited under various programmes state-wise are given in Annexure.
