Question : BRIBERY CASES IN DELHI POLICE



(a) whether some police personnel of the Delhi Police have been found to take bribes;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the total number of such cases reported from April 2011 till date; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to check the recurrence of such cases in future?

(a) & (b): Yes. The details of Delhi Police Personnel involved in corruption charges in 24 cases from April, 2011 till date are given below:

(c): All the Assistant Commissioners of Police and SHOs have been directed to hold regular briefings at various levels and the staff is directed to refrain from corrupt practices and misconduct. Vigilance Branch exclusively deals with the complaints of the public against police personnel and also simultaneously keeps a check over their activities. Surprise checks are also being conducted at various levels and if any police official is found indulging in malpractice/corruption or any complaint is received, stern action is taken against erring police personnel after enquiry.
