Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR
YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS
(SHRI VIJAY GOEL)
(a)to(c): Madam, bidding to host multi-sports international events in India including Olympics and Asian Games is the responsibility of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). IOA has not made any request to the
Government to grant permission to bid for Olympics, 2024. During May, 2017, President of IOA wrote to the Government suggesting to host various multi-sport international events in India such as Asian Games, Asian Beach Games, Olympic Games etc. A meeting was also held with IOA President to discuss further steps for hosting such events. It was agreed in principle with the proposal of IOA to bid for holding mega international sporting events in the country, subject to detailed appraisal and approval and IOA was advised to furnish detailed and comprehensive proposals. So far, no specific proposal has been received requesting the Government to grant permission for hosting the Olympics, 2032 and Asian Games, 2030.
(d)&(e): Since no specific proposal has been received from IOA, it is not possible to specify timelines, at this stage.
