(a): Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is presently implementing a scheme viz. Sub-Mission on Agroforestry (SMAF)-Har Medh Par Ped, since 2016-17.



The salient features of the scheme areto encourage and expand tree plantation in a complementary and integrated manner with crops and livestock to improve

productivity, employment opportunities, income generation and livelihoods of rural households, especially the small farmers. Multipurpose tree species like Sheesam, Teak, Eucalyptus, Malabar Neem, Ardu, Sandalwood, Poplar, Imli, Mango, etc. are promoted for plantation on farm land along with agricultural crops.

The scheme is implemented in the States having liberalized felling and transit-regulations for transport of timber. Presently, the scheme is being implemented in 23 States/Union Territories (UTs) viz. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttra Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh.
The scheme is being implemented on sharing of expenditure between Central and State Government in the ratio of 60:40 for general category of States, and 90:10 for North Eastern and Himalayan States and 100% in case of UTs & National Agencies.

(d): Since inception of the scheme in 2016-17, around 401.0 lakh trees have been planted and an area of93,809 hectares has been covered under the scheme. A total 29.9 lakh plantshave been planted in Rajasthan including districts of Sikar (1.57 lakh), Jhunjhunu (1.16 lakh) Jalore (0.30 lakh) and Sirohi (0.15 lakh) so far.
