Question : FULL MOBILE NUMBER PORTABILITY



(a) whether the Government has set any deadline for telecom operators to rollout the full mobile number portability (MNP);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the details of telecom operators that are able to rollout the full mobile number portability so far;

(c) whether the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has requested the overnment to set up Coordination Committee on full mobile number portability and also requested to extend the deadline for full MNP;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(e) the action proposed to be taken against the operators failing to extend full MNP?

(a)&(b) The Department of Telecommunications has carried out amendment in the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) license agreements for rolling out the full Mobile Number Portability by May, 2015 in the Country.

(c)&(d) The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) had requested Department of Telecommunications to set up Coordination Committee and to extend the deadline. In consideration of the same, the Department has constituted a Committee but the request of COAI to extend the deadline for full MNP has yet not been agreed.

(e) The deadline for rolling out the full MNP is yet to be reached and further course of action shall be decided thereafter.
