Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI A. RAJA)

(a) to (c): Seasonal rise of water and vector borne diseases is normally observed with the start of rainy season. For prevention and control of various Vector Borne Diseases like Malaria, Filaria etc., National Anti-Malaria Programme has been in operation in the country as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. In order to identify the early warning signals of outbreaks of these diseases, National Surveillance Programme for Communicable Diseases is in operation in 101 districts. Under the Tenth Five Year Plan, an Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme is envisaged to strengthen the mechanism of surveillance of various diseases in the country.
