Question : INDO-CHINA TALKS AT MILITARY LEVEL



(a) whether India and China have held any talks at the Military level recently;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the subjects on which the talks were held; and

(c) the likely effects of the above talks on the defence relations of the two countries?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b)&(c): An Indian Army delegation led by GOC-in-C, Eastern Army Command visited China from 2nd to 7th April, 2001. This was a goodwill visit and a part of existing Confidence Building Measures relating to military-to-military exchanges between the two countries.

Government of India is committed to the development of friendly relations with China and promotion of friendly and reciprocal contacts and exchanges between the armed forces of the two countries.
