(a) At present, 713 Krishi Vigyan Keneras (KVKs) are existing in the country. The state wise number of KVKs are given in Annexure.
(b) & (c): Yes, Sir. The Government has approved for setting up of 76 KVKs in the country under the three year Plan 2017-2020. Till now, 44 KVKs have been established.
Further, following steps have already been taken in the matter:-
(i) Formation of site selection committees;
(ii) Identification of logistics, suitable land and a host organization for opening a KVK;
(iii) Follow up with the host organization for transfer of cultivable land; and
(iv) Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) before sanctioning a KVK.
(d) The average amount of Rupees 18 lakh is spent per year per KVK for various activities of a KVK.
(e) The mechanism developed for monitoring of KVKs include holding of Scientific Advisory Committee meetings; Annual Zonal Workshops; Mid-term Review Workshops; Activity Specific Training-cum-Workshops; and visits to KVKs by the Officers of Agricultural Technology Application Research Institutes, Directorates of Extension Education of Agricultural Universities and ICAR Headquarters. Besides, a KVK Portal has been developed for online monitoring and reporting of the KVK activities.
