Question : THEFT OF SIGNALLING EQUIPMENT



(a) whether signaling equipment is being damaged and stolen in some section of rail track in South Central Railway;

(b) if so, whether the security personnel of South Central Railway studied the potential spots for such activity;

(c) if so, the steps taken to prevent such activities;

(d) whether any patrol along the rail track was initiated ; and

(e) the steps taken to check theft in South Central Railway?

(a)&(b):Yes, Sir. The potential spots are Godamgurra Railway Station, Wirrur-Makudi, Manikgarh- Ghatchandur, Bellampali Railway Station, Aurangabad, Uppalwai, Safilguda, Indalwai, Pune- Miraj, Manubolu, Venkatachalam-Vedayapalem.

(c)&(d): RPF staff are being deployed for short term patrols and static pickets at the vulnerable spots to prevent such incidents.

(e): The following steps are being taken to prevent and detect theft of signalling equipment along with rail track over South Central Railway:-


(i) All Post and Out Post Incharges have been instructed to collect crime Intelligence pertaining to the theft of signal equipment.

(ii) Special watch is being kept on ex-convicts and old S&T offenders.

(iii) Whenever any such case is reported special teams are formed to work out the case and to ensure speedy recovery of stolen Railway Property.

(iv) Static Pickets are posted at way-side stations for guarding purpose.
