Question : TRAINING PROGRAMMES FOR RURAL WOMEN



(a) Whether the Government is implementing specific schemes aimed at the welfare and training of women particularly the poor, widows and destitute women labourers in the country;

(b) If so, the details thereof including details of total funds allocated for the same during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise; and

(c) the number of women labourers benefited from these schemes during the said period, State/UT-wise especially in Jhunjunu, Rajasthan?

MINISTER OF STATE(IC) FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SHRI BANDARU DATTATREYA)

(a) to (c): Ministry of Labour & Employment is imparting vocational training through a network of 11 Central Institutes viz. 01 National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) and 10 Regional Vocational Training Institutes (RVTIs) exclusively for women. These institutes cater to the training needs of all women including the poor, widows and destitute women having minimum qualification of 10th standard.

Around 9000 women are being trained every year in long-term and short-term courses. Since inception, RVTIs have trained around 1,17,884 women till October, 2014, including 7266 from RVTI-Jaipur.
The total funds allocated for these institutes during the last three years are as under:-
