Question : Mobile Towers in LWE Areas

(a) the details of the funds allocated and utilised for installation of mobile towers in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas under phase I and II of the project since its inception;

(b) the details of mobile towers installed in LWE affected areas since the projects inception;

(c) the details of the districts of the State of Andhra Pradesh that are covered under the project;

(d) the funds allocated and utilised for setting up of mobile towers in such districts of the State of Andhra Pradesh; and

(e) whether the Ministry has set any target for covering all LWE affected areas in the country and if so, the details thereof?

(a) As on 28.02.2022, Rs. 3,700 crore has been allocated and utilized for provision for providing Mobile Services in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) Affected Areas under Phase-I and Phase-II.
(b) A total of 2,343 Mobile Towers have been installed under LWE scheme(s), since the project inception, in the 10 affected States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
(c) Under LWE Phase-I scheme, East Godavari, West Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram Districts have been included. Under LWE Phase-II scheme, Anantapur, Guntur Rural, Kurnool, Prakasam, Srikakulam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram Districts have been included.
(d) As on 28.02.2022, a sum of Rs. 133.46 crore has been disbursed for Andhra Pradesh under LWE Projects.
(e) Under LWE schemes, towers are installed for providing mobile services at the locations identified by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Under LWE Phase-I Scheme, total 2343 towers have been installed to provide mobile services. LWE Phase-II Scheme includes the installation of 2,542 towers to provide 4G mobile services across 10 LWE States, with the timeline as March 2023.
