Question : Employee in IOFS

(a) the total number of Gazetted officers working in the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS);
(b) the number of officers working in the IOFS on deputation from other departments and the time since when they are on deputation, designation-wise;
(c) whether the IOFS officers have been sent on deputation to any other departments and if so, the details of such officers and the time since when they are on deputation, designation-wise;
(d) whether Government has noticed that these officers have become liability on IOFS as they are not serving in IOFS for which they got selected and if so, the Government’s reaction thereto; and
(e) the steps taken by the Government for strengthening of IOFS during the last three years?

(a) Existing strength of IOFS as on date - 1414
Presently working in cadre - 1311
IOFS officers on deputation as on date - 103

(b) As per SRO provisions 01 (one) post in Indian Ordnance Factories is identified to be filled up through deputation from the officers of Central Organised Account Services. Present incumbent is Dr. M. Anjaneyulu (IDAS), Member Finance w.e.f. 09.04.2018.

(c) Yes, Sir. IOFS officers are sent on deputation to other departments/Ministries as per scheme of Govt. of India for various organized cadres. Presently, 103 IOFS officers are on deputation in various Ministries/Departments, details of which are annexed.

(d) No, Sir. The deputation of IOFS officers to other central Department/Ministries actually widens their horizon and provides enrichment to their knowledge which is beneficial to the Ordnance Factory Board and the Ministry of Defence. Moreover, there is a specific provision for deputation, training and leave reserve in the total sanctioned strength of the IOFS Cadre.

(e) The Restructuring of the IOFS Cadre is taken up as per the requirement/rules from time to time.
