(a) the district-wise number of the applications in the
waiting list for rural and urban telephone connections in
Maharashtra;
(b) the district-wise telephone connections provided in the
rural as well as urban areas during each of the last two years
are the number of applications in the waiting list; and
(c) the steps proposed to be taken by the Government to clear
the waiting list?

(a) The district-wise number of applications in the waiting
list of the rural and urban telephone connections in
Maharashtra as on 30.6.2003 is given in the Annexure.
(b) The district-wise rural and urban telephone connections
provided during last two years in Maharashtra is given in the
Annexure.
(c) A target of providing 296000 new telephone connections is
taken up during 2003-04. The details are given below:-
