Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SHIPPING, ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS(SHRI K.H. MUNNIYAPPA)

(a) to (e) Only Meerut-Mujaffarnagar section of National Highway No.58 has been approved for 4-laning under NHDP Phase-IIIA and the construction work is likely to start by March 2006 and targeted to be completed by December 2009.

Mujaffarnagar-Saharanpur is a State Road and not National Highway and hence its development to 4-Lane Road is the responsibility of the State Government concerned.

Saharanpur-Ambala National Highway is not proposed for 4-laning keeping in view the traffic intensity.
