The Government has taken a number of steps to meet the skill requirements in the country. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, short term training is being provided to help the youth to become employable and earn their livelihood. In addition, Model Skill Centres namely Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) are envisaged in every district for imparting skill training. Long term training is imparted through Industrial Training Institutes across the country.
