(a) Whether the Government envisage any specific schemes or projects to
promote Paddy cultivation as part of observing 2004 as the International Paddy
Year;
(b) If so, the details thereof ;
(c) If not, the reasons therefore ;
(d) Whether any `Paddy Map` has been prepared by the Government to emphasise
the paddy cultivation in the country; and
(e) If so, the details thereof ?

(a) to (c): The Government is taking up a number of activities as a part of
observing 2004 as International Year of Rice to promote rice cultivation in
the country. These include, organizing national Science Day and Quiz on Rice
in India for school children,holding of national and international symposia,
seminars, conferences, trainings, publicity for awareness about International
Year of Rice, organization of Rice Day and meetings etc.in different states.
