Question : EXPORT OF SPORTS GOODS .



(a) whether the exports of sports goods particularly cricket goods has declined during the past few years;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government have given any attention to the problems of the sports manufacturers; and

(d) if so, the details of incentives given to sports manufacturers?

( a ) & ( b ) : Despite global recession, Indian sports goods could able to achieve a growth of 725% in Rupee terms during 2000- 2001. The details of cricket goods are given as follows:

( c ) & ( d ) : In order to facilitate the Sports Goods exporters the Government has taken the following measures:-


(i) fixation of duty drawback and DEPB rates;

(ii) assistance to individual exporters for participation in international fairs etc

(iii) assistance for market promotion through Sports Goods Export Promotion Council

(iv) ensuring availability of raw material.
