Question : SHORTAGE OF DOCTORS

(a) whether there is an acute shortage of Doctors in the Railway hospitals; :

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the steps taken by the Railways to recruit the Doctors in their hospitals?

(a) No, Sir.

(b) Does not arise.

(c) Recruitment of doctors is done through Union Public Service Commission every year. Till the regular doctors are made available by UPSG, Contract Medical Practitioners are also recruited on contract basis for the posts lying vacant in Railway hospitals.
