Question : MOU BETWEEN IGNOU AND SAPET

(a) whether any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi with Sri Angala Parameshwari Educational Trust (SAPET), Chennai;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether IGNOU has approved study centres for conducting various Vertically Integrated Engineering Programmes (VIEP) under the said MoU;

(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(e) the total number of students enrolled in the VIEP offered by IGNOU during the years 2009-10 and 2010-11; and

(f) the total amount of course fee received from the students enrolled in various VIEP and the total amount of the payment made by IGNOU to SAPET, Chennai for the said period?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) As per the MOU, the IGNOU and the SAPET resolved to jointly offer flexible and modular programmes in various areas of Engineering and Technology for desirous candidates through distance mode of education and face to face mode of education which will provide upward mobility and career path for the learners with multiple entry and multiple exit facilities.

(c) Yes, Sir.
(d) The Statewise details of 121 Programme Study Centres (PSCs) approved by IGNOU are Andhra Pradesh(16), Assam (1), Bihar (1), Chandigarh (1), Chattishgarh (2), Delhi (2), Gujarat (5), Haryana(7), Himachal Pradesh (3), Jharkhand (6), Karnataka (4), Kerala(4), Madhya Pradesh (2), Maharashtra (10), Orissa (3), Pondechherry (1), Punjab (2), Rajasthan (10), Uttar Pradesh(11), Uttranchal (1), Tamilnadu (28), West Bengal (1).

(e) As per the information provided by IGNOU, the total number of students enrolled by IGNOU in the year 2009-10 and 2010-11 were nil and 5288 respectively.

(f) The total amount of course fee received by IGNOU from the students enrolled in various VIEPs is Rs.8,95,25,000/- of which Rs.1,34,28,750/- has been paid by IGNOU to SAPET, Chennai.
