(a) the number of applicants applied for telephone connections in the country, particularly in Uttar Pradesh from January,2000 to June, 2001;
(b) the number of applicants provided telephone connections during the said period out of them; and
(c) the time by which remaining applicants are likely to be provided telephone connections?

(a) The number of applicants applied for telephone connections from January, 2000 to June, 2001 in the country is 8579234 and particularly in Uttar Pradesh is 647545.
(b) The number of applicants provided telephone connections during the said period is 5238858.
(c) The remaining applicants are likely to be provided with the telephone by the year 2002 except in some areas where they are likely to be provided by 2003.
