(a) whether Damodar Valley Corporation has taken a decision to set up Kodarma
Super Thermal Power Station in Kodarma district of Jharkhand;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the time by which the construction of the Thermal Power Station in likely to be
commenced?

(a) : Yes, Sir. Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has decided to set up
Kodarma Thermal Power Station Stage-I (2x500 MW) under 10th Five Year Plan.
(b) : Preliminary activities for establishment of the project are under progress. All statutory clearances have been received except water clearance from Damodar Valley Reservoir Regulation Committee (DVRRC). Proposal for acquisition of land has already been sent to the Government of Jharkhand.
(c) : Construction of Kodarma Thermal Power Station Stage-I (2x500 MW) is
likely to be commenced by December, 2006 subject to the acquisition of land and water
clearance from Government of Jharkhand to DVRRC.
