Question : Reserved Vacancies in IIT-NIT-IISER

(a) total number of regular recruitments done for the post of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and
Professors in the Central Government Colleges and Universities, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Science,
Education and Research (IISER) since 1995 till date, college-wise and University-wise;
(b) the total regular recruitments done in Central Government Colleges/ Universities along with the
category-wise details of (UR/OBC/SC/ST) recruitments done since 1995 till date for Assistant Professors,
Associate Professors and Professors;
(c) the number of employees working on contract basis as Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and
Professors and also details of those belonging to UR/OBC/ SC/ST, college-wise and University-wise; and
(d) the duration of appointment of contractual employees and details of sanctioned strength, disciplinewise
and category-wise in Central Government Colleges and Universities?

(a) & (b): The vacancies at various levels are caused by various processes including retirements,
resignations, deaths, deputations, expansion and opening of new institutions. Occurrence of vacancies and
filling them is a continuous process. Such data of recruitments made to the posts of Assistant Professor,
Associate Professor and Professor since 1995, alongwith their categories, in various Higher Educational
Institutions is not centrally maintained.
(c) & (d): The details of Adhoc/Guest/Contract/Re-employed Teachers deployed in various Central
Universities as on 01-04-2019 are as under:-

There are about 4000 teachers (adhoc/guest/contract) working in the 53 colleges affiliated to University of
Delhi which are getting maintenance grants from UGC/MHRD.
However, the data regarding the categories of contractual faculty and their duration of appointment is not
maintained centrally.
