(a) :The prerogative of fielding athletes and teams in international sports events, including the Olympics, is that of the National Sports Federations of the sports discipline concerned and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). The Government has no role in such matters.Therefore, State-wise details of players who have participated and won medals in the Olympic Games, is not maintained by this Ministry.
(b):Sports is a State subject and promotion of sports in a State is the responsibility of the respective State Governments. However, to supplement the efforts of Central Government, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports through Sports Authority of India (SAI) is implementing the following sports promotional schemes across the country to identify talented sports persons in the age group of 8-25 years and nurture them to excel at national and international competitions :
• National Centres of Excellence (NCOE)
• SAI Training Centre (STC)
• Extension Centre of STC
• National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC)
Details of SAI Schemes athletes in the State of Madhya Pradesh are given at Annexure-I.
Further, under the vertical State Level Khelo India Scheme (SLKIC), MP State Academy, Madhya Pradesh has been designated as Khelo India State Centre of Excellence.
Under the vertical Support to National/Regional/State Sports Academies, 15 academies have been accredited and are being supported. List of academies accredited is placed at Annexure-II.
