Question : Power Generation Capacity

(a) the details of installed capacity and targets fixed for power generation in respect of every power project/plant established in the country along with actual quantity of power generated from each of them during the last three years and current year including the targets fixed for power generation by them during the next three years, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether power generated from these plants/projects is maximum of their installed capacity and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to review the existing power projects/plants and intends to establish some more power projects/plants into the country to increase and achieve targeted power generation and if so, the details thereof along with funds required for the job including source of mobilization of funds; and

(d) the steps taken/to be taken for increasing power generation and optimal utilization of installed power generation capacity of existing power projects/plants?

(a) & (b) : The State/UT-wise details of Installed Capacity and targets fixed for power generation with actual quantity of power generated from each of the power project during the last three years and current year are at Annex . The generation targets are fixed on year to year basis.

(c) & (d) : Electricity is a concurrent subject. The Central Government supplements the efforts of the State Governments by establishing power plants and transmission systems in the Central Sector through Central Power Sector Undertakings (CPSUs).

As per Electricity Act, 2003, electricity generation is a delicensed activity, the funds for the generation project(s) are arranged by the Generation project developer.
