Question : PUCCA SHELTER TO RURAL HOUSEHOLDS



(a) the schemes/programmes being implemented by the Government for pucca shelter to all rural households in the country and the number of rural households who have been provided pucca shelter thereunder across the country during each of the last three years and current year, State and scheme-wise;

(b) whether the Government has provided adequate funds to State under the said schemes/programmes during the said period and if so, the details thereof, State and scheme-wise and if not, the reasons therefor ;

(c) whether the cases of corruption/irregularities have come to the notice of the Government under the said schemes/programmes during the said period, if so, the details thereof, scheme-wise;and

(d) the corrective steps taken/being taken by the Government for effective implementation of the said schemes/programmes across the country?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI SUDARSHAN BHAGAT)

(a) The Ministry of Rural Development is implementing Indira AwaasYojana (IAY), a flagship scheme throughout the country except Delhi and Chandigarh under which financial assistance of Rs.70,000/- in plain areas and Rs. 75,000/- in hilly/di- fficult areas, is provided to the rural BPL households for construction of a dwelling unit. The total number of houses sanctioned in the country during last three years and current year is given in the annexure I.

(b) A statement indicating funds releasedto the States under IAY during last three years and current year is given in annexure II.

(c) & (d) The Government of India has issued an advisory to deal with the cases of corruption and irregularities under IAY. The same has been circulated to State Governments/UT Adminis- tration for taking appropriate action. In addition to that the Ministry deputes National Level Monitors for conducting specific inquiry regarding irregularities committed under IAY. A statement indicating number of complaints received during last three years and forwarded to the State Governemnt is given in annexure III.
