Question : Repair of Highways in Bihar

(a) the names of the State highways in Bihar declared National Highways since 2014;

(b) the details of schemes being implemented by the Government for repairs of highways in Bihar;

(c) whether the Government has not reimbursed the amount spent by the State Government as a result of which the condition of State Highways is getting deteriorated to a great extent; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The details of State Roads declared as new National Highways (NHs) in the State of Bihar since 2014 is annexed.

(b) The types of works, which are taken up under the Maintenance & Repair (M&R) of NHs in all the States/Union Territories (UTs), including the State of Bihar are Ordinary Repairs (OR), Flood Damage Repairs (FDR), Special Repairs (SR), Periodical Renewals (PRs) including Improvement of Riding Quality (IRQP) of NHs.

(c) and (d) The State Government of Bihar had spent some amount for works on NHs in the past without following stipulated policy and without obtaining prior approval of the Ministry. Accordingly, the amount spent by the State Government could not be reimbursed.

The NHs in the State of Bihar are maintained in traffic worthy condition within available budgetary resources.
