Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF TRIBAL AFFAIRS (DR. TUSHAR A. CHAUDHARY)

(a) to (c): Ministry of Tribal Affairs implements a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of `Hostels for ST girls and boys` under which grant-in-aid is provided for construction of hostel buildings to State Governments/UT Administrations and Universities. No specific suggestion has been received from any Member of Parliament and other social organization under this Scheme. Whenever requests have been received from some Members of Parliament and other organizations for construction of hostel, such requests have been forwarded to the States/UTs concerned. This is because Ministry does not set up hostels itself; the proposal in this regard has to emanate from the States/UTs/Universities. Under the scheme, grant-in-aid is releases to States/UTsAJniversities on receipt of complete proposals including utilization certificates and progress report for funds released earlier from the State Governments/UT Administrations/ Universities and subject to availability of funds under the scheme.
