Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:
(a) the current status of Software Technology Park (STP) scheme and Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) scheme in the country;
(b) whether the implementation of these schemes has been successful;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(e) whether the Government is planning to provide any special packages for the development of STP and EHTP and if so, the details thereof?
(a): Presently, 2306 units are operating under the Software Technology Park (STP) scheme and 70 units are operating under Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) scheme. The total exports for year of 2018-19 from STP units is Rs.4.17 lakh crore and from EHTP units is Rs.7611.38 crore.
(b) to (d): Yes, Sir. In the accomplishment of success of IT/ ITeS industry which country is witnessing today the successful implementation of the STP scheme during last three decades has played an important role. Today the sector captures around 56 percent of the global IT outsourcing business. The software exports from STP registered units annually account for over 45% of total software exports from the country.
(e): Currently, there is no such proposal under consideration.
