(a) whether the Government proposes to introduce Housing Scheme for Beedi workers in the country;
(b) if so, the details in this regard, State-wise;
(c) whether this scheme is being financed by Beedi Workers Welfare Fund; and
(d) if so, by when this scheme will be implemented in all the Beedi producing States?

(a) to (d): The Government is implementing an Integrated Housing Scheme for Beedi Workers. Under this Scheme, financial assistance @ Rs.20,000/- per worker, for construction of his house, which has recently been enhanced to Rs.40,000/- per worker w.e.f. 1st July, 2004, or 50% of the actual cost of construction, whichever is less, is provided under the Beedi Workers Welfare Fund (BWWF), to eligible workers engaged in the beedi making, in various States. The State-wise details of Beedi Workers, who were sanctioned housing subsidy during the last three years, are given in the Annexure.
