(a) whether the poverty ratio of rural and urban areas in the country
including that of Andhra Pradesh has increased in the recent past;
(b) if so, the latest figures available with the Government in this
regard, State-wise; and
(c) the comparative ratio of States figures and national figures
in this regard?

(a) to (c): Estimates of poverty both in rural and urban areas, State-wise
and at all-India level for the years 1993-94 and 2004-05 are given in the
statement enclosed. The incidence of poverty has declined over the period both
in Andhra Pradesh and at all-India level.
