(a) to (d): Ministry of Railways has identified two railway stations viz. Gaya and Muzaffarpur for development under Major Upgradation Scheme, in East Central Railway Zone. The facilities proposed in a developed station include congestion free non-conflicting entry/exit to the station premises, segregation of arrival/departure of passengers, adequate concourse without overcrowding, integration of both sides of the city and with other modes of transport systems viz. Bus, Metro, etc., wherever feasible, user-friendly international signage, well illuminated circulating area and sufficient provision for drop off, pick up & parking etc.
Balance eight stations are taken up for techno-economic feasibility studies. Based on the outcomes of these studies, the stations will be taken up for development in a phased manner.
A work costing ?12000 Cr has been sanctioned in Supplementary Budget 2021-22 and another work costing ?5500 Cr is proposed for inclusion in Budget 2022-23 for development of stations across Indian Railways under Major Upgradation Scheme.
Station redevelopment program is first of its kind and complex in nature and requires detailed techno-financial feasibility studies and involves multiple stakeholders consultations including pre-bid conferences. Various statutory clearances from Urban/local bodies are also required. Therefore, no time-frame can be indicated at this stage.
