Question : TRANSPORTATION OF ARMS AND AMMUNITIONS

(a) whether arms, ammunition and explosives of defence forces are being transported in a safe manner;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether cases of disappearance of arms, ammunition and explosives of defence forces have been reported to the concerned authorities;

(d) if so, the details of such cases reported during each of the last three years and the current year;

(e) the action taken against officers who were responsible for the same; and

(f) the corrective measures taken by the Government to ensure safe transportation of explosives?

MINISTER OF DEFENCE (SHRI MANOHAR PARRIKAR)

(a) to (f): The arms, ammunition and explosives of defence forces are transported as per regulations laid down by STEC (Storage and Transportation of Explosive Committee) and orders and procedures issued in this regard. No case of such disappearance has been reported in the stated period. Adequate policies and procedures are in place for safe transportation of arms and ammunition.
