(a) whether the Government has formulated any scheme for creating awareness and preventing practices like child marriage, natra etc. in tribal areas;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the alternative steps taken by the Government to check such kind of social evils?
(a) to (c): Ministry of Tribal Affairs is not implementing any such scheme. However, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India is administering ‘The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006’, which, inter alia, provides that any marriage where either of the contracting party is a child at the time of the marriage is voidable at the option of the contracting parties if they approach the court within two years of attaining their majority.
