(a) The rice research activity at national level is undertaken by the two Institutes namely, Central Rice Research Institute (Cuttack) and Directorate of Rice Research (Hyderabad) including 51 centres of All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Project spread over various agro-ecological zones of the country. The details of the funds allocated to this activity during last three years are as under:

(b) & (c): Continuous studies are being conducted to produce quality rice and also to increase rice production in the country. Cencerted efforts have been made to improve the quality of grain and combine that with high grain yield, resistance to disease and pests and other desirable traits. Consequently, high yielding varieties, having medium or fine grain quality, have been developed. Improved packages of crop production and protection technology have been made available through research for increasing rice production in the country.
