Question : Underground Cables-IPDS

(a) whether the Government has undertaken the laying of underground cables under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) in the country including Gujarat;

(b) if so, the locations where underground cables have been laid since the inception of the scheme till date;

(c) the locations in Jharkhand where power cables are planned to be laid under the said scheme; and

(d) if so, the details thereof ?

(a) & (b) : Under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS), funds are provided for distribution system strengthening and upgradation including underground cabling. Under the scheme, underground cabling has been sanctioned in 22 States/UTs including Gujarat. The laying of underground cable works under IPDS has started in Varanasi, Baroda City, Anand, Godhra and Nadiad.

(c) & (d) : The work of laying underground cables in Jharkhand has been sanctioned in 11 circles namely Ranchi, Sahebganj, Daltonganj, Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Dhanbad, Chas, Chaibasa, Jamshedpur and Gumla.
