Question : ELECTRONIC MANUFACTURING CLUSTERS



(a) the details of number of completed Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) promoted by the Ministry and their conditions including financial performance;

(b) the number of notified EMCs which are being set up in the country and in Tamil Nadu and their present status; and

(c) whether the establishment of EMC is subject to numerical and geographical limitations / restrictions of the Ministry and if so, the details thereof?

(a): The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India has accorded final approval to two (2) Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) in the state of Madhya Pradesh, which are under implementation process. The Department has so far released Rs.4.17 Crore (Four Crore and Seventeen Lakhs) to M/s Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd.(MPSEDC) for Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Badwai-Bhopal and Rs. 3.55 Crore (Three Crore and Fifty Five Lakhs) has been sanctioned for Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Purva-Jabalpur. The initial construction work at both the Greenfield EMCs is under progress and till date an expenditure of Rs 6.00 crore and Rs 2.10 crore towards infrastructure development has been incurred on EMCs at Bhopal and Jabalpur respectively.

(b): Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has accorded final approval to two (2) Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Clusters and in-principle approval to fourteen (14) Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Clusters including one (1) in the state of Tamil Nadu and two (2) Common Facility Centres in Brownfield Clusters. The details of the EMCs, which have been accorded final and in-principle approval, is provided at Annexure. In addition, the Steering Committee for Clusters (SCC) has recommended in-principle approval for setting up of Greenfield EMC at Annur Taluk, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
