Question : Damage to Corona Vaccine in Cold Storage

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether it has come to the notice of the Government that many doses of Corona vaccine have been found frozen and damaged in cold storage;

(b) if so, the details of the vaccine doses damaged, State/UT-wise along with the reasons therefor;

(c) the number of Corona warriors/Health workers who have received the Corona Virus Vaccine in the country till date, State/UT-wise; and

(d) the details of the funds utilised/spent so far in the first phase of Corona Virus Vaccination Drive, State/ UT-wise?

STARRED QUESTION NO.178* FOR 12TH FEBRUARY, 2021

(a) to (d) Yes, the Government is aware that 1000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, were found frozen at Silchar Medical College Hospital, Assam on 15th January 2021.
No other specific incidence of damage to vaccine doses in the cold storages have been brought to the notice of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare so far.
Till 11th February 2021, a total of 70.17 lakh Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Front Line Workers (FLWs) have been administered COVID-19 vaccine. The State/UT-wise details of HCWs & FLWs vaccinated is at Annexure-1.
Till 8th February, a total of INR 960.75 crore have been utilized for procurement of COVID-19 vaccines. Further, INR 480 crore has been earmarked as operational cost for COVID-19 vaccination drive of which INR 123.49 crore have been disbursed to States/UTs. State/UT-wise details of funds disbursed for COVID-19 vaccination is at Annexure-2.
