Question : Vehicles Running on Clean Fuel

(a) whether the Government has decided to promote the use of vehicles running on clean fuel in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has fixed any criteria in this regard;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the automobile manufacturing companies have started manufacturing such vehicles and if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (f) Government has taken proactive steps to promote environment friendly vehicles which are innovative, ushering in proactive use of natural resources. To promote alternate fuels, the Government has issued various notifications specifying mass emission standards for Compressed Natural Gas, Biodiesel(B-100), flex-fuel (E 85) or (E 100) and ethanol (ED 95), LNG and flex-fuel Methanol M15 or M100 and Methanol MD 95 vehicles. Further for promotion of electric vehicles, Government has notified for retro-fitment of hybrid electric system or electric kit to vehicles and has specified the type approval procedure of electric hybrid vehicles. The Government has also mandated mass emission standard for BS-VI throughout the country with effect from 1st April 2020.
