(b) the data of the number of tribal people relocated by the Government who lost their homes last three years, year-wise?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE
(SHRI ASHWINI KUMAR CHOUBEY)

(a)& (b) Under the provisions of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 (FRA, 2006), no member of a forest dwelling Scheduled Tribe or Other Traditional Forest Dweller shall be evicted or removed from the forest land under his occupation till the recognition and verification procedure is complete.

During the diversion of any forest land under Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 for non-forestry purpose, compliance under FRA, 2006 is ensured to safeguard the rights of tribal people. There are well laid down procedure in Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 and FRA, 2006 to process the settlement/disposal claims of the rights of tribal people.

The data on eviction and relocation of tribal people from forests and protected areas is not collated in the Ministry.
