Question : Roads Construction by BRO

(a) the details of road construction projects being implemented by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in various States including the North-Eastern States, State / UT-wise;

(b) the funds allocated for the purpose during each of the last three years and the current year;

(c) the total length of roads in border areas of the country along with the length of roads constructed during the last three years and the current year; and

(d) whether the Government proposes to embark on a major road building exercise along the Indo-China border including Arunachal Pradesh and if so, the details thereof?

(a) The details of road construction projects entrusted to Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in various States are given at Annexure.

(b) Funds allocated to BRO during last three years and current year are as under:

Year 2012-13 : 4319.38 crores
Year 2013-14 : 4178.36 crores
Year 2014-15 : 4039.21 crores
Current year : 4666.73 crores

(c) The details of achievement made by BRO during last three years and current year is given below:-

(d) Government has identified 73 roads for development along the International Border with China. Of these 73 Indo-China Border Roads (ICBRs), 61 roads of total length 3417.51 km have been entrusted to BRO. Out of 61 ICBRs with BRO, 21 roads of length 661.59 km have been completed.
