(a) to (c) Water resources development being a State subject, the planning including allocation of funds, execution, and operation and maintenance of projects are undertaken by the State Governments.
Ministry of Jal Shakti is implementing the Scheme for Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of water bodies which has multiple objectives like comprehensive improvement and restoration of water bodies thereby increasing tank storage capacity, groundwater recharge, increased availability of drinking water, improved agriculture/horticulture productivity, improved water use efficiency; by promotion of conjunctive use of surface and ground water. State-wise details of projects under RRR scheme are given at Annexure I.
Under National Rural Drinking Water Programme, the Ministry monitors the coverage of drinking water in terms of Fully Covered (FC) Habitations (that is, getting more than 40 Litres per capita per day (LPCD), Partially Covered (PC) habitations (that is getting less than 40 LPCD) and Quality Affected (QA) habitations (that is containing chemical contamination). As per information furnished by the State on integrated management information system ( IMIS), 81.03% of rural habitations are fully covered, 51.61% are partially covered and 3.36% are quality affected. Further, 76.25% of rural population is fully covered, 19.77% is partially covered and 3.98% is affected with contaminated water.
