THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER ( SHRIMATI JAYAWANTI MEHTA )

(a) & (b) : An MOU has been signed between the Government of India and the State Government of Haryana on 13th February 2001 to affirm the continued joint commitment of the two parties to reforms in power sector in the State of Haryana. In the MOU, the Government of Haryana has committed to achieve mutually agreed upon milestones in reforming power sector. These milestones include 100% metering by 31.12.2001, energy audit of all major towns by 31.3.2002, reduction of T&D losses by 5% every year, formation of distinct distribution profit centres at Divisional level etc. The Government of India has committed its support through additional allocation of power from unallocated share of power from Central Generating Stations, taking up of Faridabad gas based thermal power station by NTPC, assistance to develop transmission system, financial assistance through the Accelerated Power Development Programme (APDP) for strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution as well as for renovation and modernisation of old thermal plants.
